Two of the tracks on Flat Out describe the problems of the same two characters: Don’t just stand there and pout and High tide on the Causeway are about a couple who are being hunted by the mob. They both feature a kind of ominous beat that sounds jittery.
Notice the girlfriend’s inner thoughts: “This guy ain’t nothing but a loser” ends in a kind of Pink Floyd howl – great work by Ronley Teper. I was inspired by a scene in “Crank” where Jason Statham is trying to hustle his girlfriend out of her apartment while under attack from a variety of assailants. He manages to keep his girlfriend unaware of the danger and get away while littering the screen with dead and unconscious bodies. Now that’s entertainment!
High tide on the causeway
Fast ride with my baby
Running hot, gunning the motor
Too hot to handle
Too fast to run
Too hot to handle
Made a choice, it was a bad one
Police light in the mirror
I was born to be a rebel
High school, in and out of trouble
Never knew what I wanted
Never knew just what counted
Don’t know what I’m doing here looking for some fun
Ain’t found nothing but tears Just violence and fear
THIS GUY IS NOTHING BUT A LOSER
KNOW-NOTHING TRASH, A BUM AND A BOOZER
CAUGHT UP IN THE MOB JUST A HARD LUCK STORY
THOUGHT HE HAD IT MADE NOW HE’S SORRY
He s the worst kind of trouble
Gotta find out a way to burst his bubble
Find my own way out of here
I feel the end is near
Too hot to handle Too fast to run
Too hot to handle Made a choice, it was a bad one
Gotta ride gotta run Gotta ride gotta run
Gotta ride gotta run Gotta ride gotta run
Gotta ride gotta run Gotta ride gotta run
