Peter was a friend of mine. We windsurfed together in Georgian Bay and at Cape Hatteras. He was Canadian Windsurfing Champion, a talented and athletic guy. Unlike most seriously talented athletes, Peter always had time for everyone, helping out with rigging, tuning and tips. He seemed like he had the world in the palm of his hand. Peter was taken by colon cancer at the tragically young age of 32. We all miss him. ”We fill the ocean with our tears”. You should be able to hear the sway of the waves and the surge of the tides.
Sail away beyond the stars
Sail upon a sea of light
Endless beauty fills your eyes
Angels guide you to your peace
Sail into the sunset friend
Far beyond the outer reef
Outside the cross-chop and confusion
To the lovely Ocean swell.
Porpoise play behind your wake
Mermaids gather at your bow
A strong clear wind fills up your sail
No shoals ahead, one course to take.
[Chorus]
Sail away beyond the stars
Sail upon a sea of light
Endless beauty fills your eyes
Angels guide you to your peace
We stand becalmed upon the shore
And fill the ocean with our tears
And yet we smile to think of you
Far beyond the outer reef
Far beyond the outer reef
Far beyond the outer reef
And yet we smile to think of you
Far beyond the outer reef
Remembered always with a smile
Remembered always as a friend
You followed close upon your dream
And steered a course so straight and true
